StaySaver Cookies Policy

This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies StaySaver uses when you visit staysaver.app — our day-use hotel booking platform. We believe in being transparent about data, so this page tells you exactly what is stored, why, and for how long.

StaySaver is a day-use hotel booking platform. We allow travellers to discover, search, and book hotel rooms by the hour or for a partial day — from pools and spas to day rooms and meeting spaces. Some of the technologies below are essential to make that booking experience work; others are optional and only activate with your consent.

1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and give site owners insights into how pages are used.

LocalStorage and SessionStorage are similar technologies built into your browser. Unlike cookies they are not sent to our server on every request, but they serve the same purpose — storing small pieces of data locally so the site behaves consistently across page loads.

Cookies set directly by staysaver.app are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by external services we use (Google Maps, reCAPTCHA, Razorpay) are called third-party cookies and are governed by those providers' own privacy policies.

2 Categories of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies Always Active

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They cannot be disabled. They include the record of your cookie choice and server-side session handling.

Functional / Preference Storage Preference

These items remember your preferences — such as your currency, language, local timezone, and blog layout choice — so you get a consistent experience without having to re-select settings each time. Most are stored in your browser's localStorage; the userTimezone cookie is the exception and is sent to our server so day-use slot times render in your local time. None of these are set until you accept functional cookies.

Third-Party Service Cookies Third-Party

Some pages on StaySaver load services from external providers — Google (Maps, reCAPTCHA, Fonts), Razorpay (payment), and jsDelivr (UI libraries). These services may set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies; they are governed by each provider's privacy policy.

3 Cookies & Storage We Set — Full List

The table below lists every cookie and storage item that StaySaver itself sets on your device.

Essential Cookies

Name Type Purpose Duration
ss_cookie_consent localStorage Cookie consent record. Stores your response to the cookie banner (all or essential) so we remember your choice and do not show the banner on every visit. Strictly necessary to honour your preference — set only after you interact with the banner. Persistent — until you clear browser storage

Functional / Preference Storage (localStorage)

Key Type Purpose Duration
userTimezone Cookie Timezone preference. Stores your IANA timezone (e.g. Asia/Kolkata) so day-use slot times, check-in/check-out times, and booking cut-offs display in your local time instead of UTC. Set only after you accept functional cookies; if you decline, times fall back to UTC. It contains only the timezone identifier — no personal data. Session — deleted when browser closes
currency localStorage Currency preference. Stores your detected or selected currency code (e.g. INR, USD) so hotel prices are shown in your local currency on the search and listing pages. Persistent — until you clear browser storage
market localStorage Market / country code. Stores your detected country code (e.g. IN, AE) to pre-select appropriate hotel markets and search defaults for day-use bookings. Persistent — until you clear browser storage
locale localStorage Language preference. Stores your browser language tag (e.g. en-IN, en-US) used for formatting dates, times, and numbers on hotel listings. Persistent — until you clear browser storage
bl_view localStorage Blog layout preference. Remembers whether you last viewed the blog in grid or list layout. No personal data involved. Persistent — until you clear browser storage
fslightbox-* localStorage Image gallery state. Set by the FsLightbox gallery library used to display hotel and blog images. Caches the media type of each image so galleries open faster. No personal data involved. Cleared if you reject non-essential cookies. Persistent — until you clear browser storage

4 Third-Party Service Cookies

The following external services are used on parts of staysaver.app and may set their own cookies or access device storage. We have no direct control over what these services store.

Provider Used On Purpose Their Policy
Google Fonts All pages Loads the Montserrat typeface used throughout the site. Google may log your IP and browser type when the font file is requested from their CDN. Google Privacy Policy
Google reCAPTCHA Contact, Become a Partner Protects our contact and registration forms from automated spam and bots. reCAPTCHA analyses user behaviour and may set cookies to assess human vs. bot interaction. Google Privacy Policy
Google Maps Contact page, Become a Partner Displays an embedded map of our office location on the Contact page, and powers hotel address autocomplete on the Become a Partner registration form. Google Privacy Policy
Razorpay Booking / Payment pages Powers the online payment checkout for FLEX (prepaid) day-use bookings. When the Razorpay payment widget loads, it may set session cookies to secure the payment transaction and prevent fraud. Razorpay does not receive your browsing history from other pages. Razorpay Privacy Policy
jsDelivr CDN All pages (SweetAlert2 library) Serves the SweetAlert2 JavaScript library used for user-facing confirmation dialogs (e.g. booking confirmation popups). jsDelivr may log access for performance and security monitoring. jsDelivr Privacy Policy
Razorpay cookies are only loaded when you proceed to the payment step of a day-use booking. If you browse hotels, view room availability, or use the search without initiating a payment, no Razorpay cookies are set on your device.

5 What We Do Not Do

  • We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies (no Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or similar).
  • We do not use behavioural analytics cookies (no Hotjar, Mixpanel, or Heap).
  • We do not sell cookie data or browsing behaviour to any third party.
  • We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
  • We do not store payment card details in any cookie or localStorage item — all payment data is handled directly by Razorpay's secure servers.

6 Why Accurate Timezone Matters for Day-Use Bookings

StaySaver specialises in day-use hotel bookings — rooms booked for a few hours within a single calendar day. Every booking has an exact check-in time and check-out time on the same date.

The userTimezone cookie is not a marketing or tracking cookie — it is a functional convenience. Without it, the availability calendar, slot cut-off logic, and "book by" deadlines show UTC times instead of your local times, which can make day-use slots harder to read.

Because it is functional rather than strictly necessary, it is set only after you accept functional cookies — never before. It contains only your IANA timezone identifier (e.g. Asia/Kolkata), holds no personal information, and is never shared with third parties. If you decline functional cookies, times simply display in UTC.

7 How to Manage & Control Cookies

Using Our Consent Banner

On your first visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with three choices: Accept All (essential + functional), Reject Non-Essential (keeps only the essential timezone cookie), or Manage Preferences to choose per category. Your choice is saved in ss_cookie_consent. You can revisit it any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the website footer — no need to clear your browser storage.

Browser Settings

All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies and localStorage. Use the links below to go directly to your browser's cookie settings:

If you decline functional cookies, the userTimezone cookie is not set and hotel slot times are shown in UTC. This may cause confusion when booking day-use rooms — for example, a 10:00 AM check-in slot in Mumbai (IST) would appear as 04:30 AM on the page. We recommend accepting functional cookies for the best booking experience.

Opt Out of Google Services

  • Google reCAPTCHA: governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised Google services at myaccount.google.com.
  • Google Maps embed: only loads on the Contact and Become a Partner pages. Avoid those pages if you do not want Google Map cookies.

8 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookies Policy when we add new features, integrate new third-party services, or when regulations change. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Where a change introduces new non-essential cookies or materially changes how existing ones are used, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie banner. You can review or change your choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the website footer.
